The holiday farmhouse and the wholly organic farm is only a 40-minute drive from Rome, and is located within the Bracciano and Martignano Regional Park, on the shores of the Martignano lake, well known as the “the pearl of the Sabbatini hills” and regarded as one of the most beautiful and cleanest lakes in Italy, thanks to the complete absence of development in the area.
The lake, which is of volcanic origin and formed about 130,000 years ago, was already known by the ancient Romans as a holiday place. The distinctive features of the place, immersed in a unique natural environment, give guests the opportunity to spend the day, a weekend or longer in a totally relaxing atmosphere in touch with pristine nature.
If you are looking for somewhere to enjoy a day with family and friends in peace, then you will certainly be satisfied with Il Castoro. The apartments which we rent out have been beautifully restored and are less than 200m from the shores of the lake.

You can enjoy a view of the lake from the small private gardens in front of each apartment, or venture further afield to sample the pleasures and beauty of the area surrounding Martignano.
Alternatively, you can spend a pleasant day on the shores of Lake Martignano, in the area we have especially created for all our guests. There is a small restaurant with a barbeque for lunch, drinks and snacks.

Only a few kilometers away are supermarkets and shops for everything you need.

There are also many interesting places to visit and things to do, both nearby and – above all – in Rome. The capital is easy to reach by car – only 40 minutes – or by train, leaving at frequent intervals from the convenient Anguillara sabazia (7 km away).  The train stops at Trastevere and St. Peter’s before ending at Ostiense.

We ask guests staying in apartments to arrive at Il Castoro before 9.00 pm. We are closed every year from 7 January to 31 March.
